Unforgettable Words Kobe Bryant Left With Us

unforgettable words kobe bryant left with us

The news broke this morning that the legend Kobe Bryant passed away in a tragic helicopter crash involving eight others. Including his oldest daughter, Gianna, who he was supporting in her own basketball adventures.

I’ve never been a huge fan of basketball myself, but i have always known about the man, Kobe. If you haven’t heard of him before, he’s an NBA all star who just recently had ended his 20 year career playing for the Lakers basketball team. If you grew up saying or hearing “Kobe” while throwing any sort of object into any sort of container, you know who he is.

The news about Kobe’s death has been everywhere. People are sharing their stories about how he impacted their life all over social media. The effect that his life has on other people is extremely powerful when you sit back and think about it.

And it really puts into perspective how much living for your passion can truly inspire others.

Kobe Bryant was recognized worldwide for who he was as a player, teammate, husband, father, and friend to so many people. Not only did he have multiple awards for his skills and sportsmanship, but he was known as being a committed player for the NBA since he was 18 years old. He inspired so many people to live their life doing what they love.

  • He’s won 5 NBA championships
  • An 18 time All Star (which means hes literally the most skilled & accomplished
  • Led the NBA in scoring for 2 seasons
  • Has an Oscar for producting a short film called “Dear Basketball”
  • And so much more

Kobe’s death has literally made the world stand still.

It really goes to show how much impact ones life can have when it is lived passionately. There are so many of us who are mourning the death of this wonderful man, yet we’ve never even met him before.

In a recent interview with Lewis Howes, Kobe talked about what growing up was like for him and most importantly how important it was for him to win. He made sacrifices most of us don’t want to make. And, as a young man, so he could truly be the best that he could be. He was determined to say the least.

Working hard and helping others was noticeably important to Kobe Bryant.

He also shared that focusing just on things just to make money wasn’t ever successful for him. That there’s so much happiness to be found when you live for the things you love so you can use your passions to help other people.

In his interview with Howes, Kobe made several statements that are important to remember. So i wrote them all down in my notebook where i keep all my inspiration, but i wanted to share with everyone else, too.

“Rest at the end not in the middle.”

“Stories are what move the world. Whether the story gives inspiration or information, nothing in this world moves without story. It’s the root of everything”

“If were gonna make the world a better place, a story is the right place to start.”

“Losing is exciting because it means you have answers to get better.”

“The process should be the same whether you win or lose.”

“You have to be brave enough to face the hard stuff so you can learn from it.”

“Nothing is ever perfect but the challenge is to get it as perfect as you can be.”

“Compassion is putting yourself aside and understanding how the other person is feeling.”

Your kids see how hard you work by training with them, they learn those work ethics in your behaviors.”

“I would describe love as happiness, a beautiful journey.”

“Love has its up and downs whether its in marriage or whether its in the career. Things are never perfect. But through love, you continue to persevere and you move from and you move from. And then through that storm a beautiful sun emerges and then inevitability another storm comes, and guess what? You ride that one out too. So i think love is a certain determination and persistence to go through the good times and the bad times with the someone or something that you truly love”

“The definition of greatness is to inspire the people next to you. I think that is what greatness is or should be,its not something that lives and dies with one person. It’s how can you inspire a person to then in turn inspire another person. That’s how to create something i think that will last forever. And i think that our challenge as people is to figure out how our story can impact others and motivate them to create their own greatness.”

Every quote above came from Kobe Bryant in his 45 interview with Lewis Howes. This man had so much wisdom inside of him that will not go unnoticed should we never let it. And may we let his words impact us so greatly that we choose to live life determined and full of passion, just like he did.

I will be continuing to pray for all of those involved, including the family members.

Rest in peace, Kobe.
