It’s Okay To Not Always Have To Be Okay

its ok to not be ok

Taking care of yourself can feel like a huge struggle but sometimes you just need to know that it’s okay to not be okay.

I am sure we can all agree that finding a balance in life feels like a major challenge.

I personally struggle with wanting to be a good mom and wife so much that I fail to do the things for myself that make me, me.

And i have become more & more aware of those mistakes & that my kids are watching me.

It’s really easy to fall behind on taking care of yourself the busier life gets, but i really hate that they see me fall behind. I don’t want them to see me fail.

However, being more aware of the person i have become has really made me realize and accept that it’s okay to not be okay.

Being aware of ourselves is SO essential & something i think is important that we start teaching our children.

It’s okay to be different. Its okay to cry. Its OK to say no. It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to do whatever it is that you need to do for your well being.

Taking care of ourselves is a necessity, & its not something that is going to be pretty all the time. Actually, its going to get real messy at times.

In the past, I’ve gotten so caught up in what is going on around me rather than paying more attention to my own well being.

& in return, it ends up causing a lot of anxiety, mom guilt, self doubt, and overall, it causes a large amount of stress.

Anxiety mixed with mom life– it can tend to get really tough at times. & im learning that that’s okay, too.

I worry a lot, stress a lot, and i overthink a lot.

But at the end of the day, we’re all human and we all deal with emotions. Don’t we all?

I accept that i will always be a work in progress. & in my opinion, our kids need to hear us talking about these things more.

Normalizing mental health has been a mission for me ever since I’ve become a mom.

Something about being a mom has made me face my fears. Motherhood has pushed me to deal with things that were weighing me down. I want to be the best mom, friend, wife, & person that i can be.

Even though It has never been my intention for my kids to see me unhappy, the truth is that it happens. And me wanting to hide emotions from anyone doesn’t do any good.

When life doesn’t seem so kind to you, try accepting it instead of hiding from it. I have found so much power in that space. Because it is so so important to give yourself time.

Whatever it is you need to do, just allow yourself and your mind the time to refocus.

Do whats best for you & use the tools that work for you.

Being open and honest with my loved ones about the things i normally would want to keep to myself has not only taught them compassion for others, but they have learned to have a lot of grace for me in my hard moments as well.

& im not afraid to admit that i really need their grace.

They have learned to think about others more often, & to not take someone else’s bad day so personal.

I want my children to know that it’s OK to have emotions, fears, and that its OK to make mistakes. I also want them to think about others and how they can help when others are hurting.

& it starts with us being real with them.

The society we live in is attracted to positive, funny, and happy things, and we can get highly discouraged from talking about the hard things.

Its important to me to teach them how to overcome those fears. & to show them that moments where you feel the weakest is where you gain the greatest amount of strength.

It is truly okay to be yourself. It’s okay to not be okay.

The best way to influence those around us is to lead by example. & when those around you are not supportive of you or reciprocating of the love you give, its important to not let it bring you down.

It’s OK to make mistakes. Ultimately, they make us who we are.

Make a conscious choice to not get so caught up in what you think you did wrong & beating yourself up.

Learn to embrace who you are and the journey you are on, & focus on the things that will keep you moving in the right direction.

That’s really what this journey in life is all about, to keep moving forward. If we don’t fail, we don’t learn. If we don’t learn, we’ll never change.
