God Doesn’t Make Garbage
God doesn’t make trash. Only treasure.
Today you might need to hear that, too. I don’t know what you have been through to make you feel like you aren’t worthy but I hope that I hope can give you hope to hang on to. God only knows how badly I need it too.
Not one person on this planet is exempt from hard times.
But that doesn’t stop those hard times from being really, really hard. And it doesn’t stop those hard times from making us feel extremely useless.
One major good thing here is that not one of us can relate to perfection.
The major bad thing is that so many of us still find ourselves trying to get there.
And while trying so hard to reach perfection we find ourselves trying to be everything that we’re not.
Through personal experience, I have learned that the idea of ‘perfection’ is pretty deep rooted. In my story, it came from a time when someone that was very close to me completely broke my spirit in a moment of being completely and ‘comfortably’ myself.
I was young, i was heavily influenced by those around me, and my spirit was very, very vulnerable. I knew nothing different at the time but to trust the adults around me.
What I have learned is that when our spirit becomes broken, we tend to stop growing.
This is dangerous because our enemy has us right where he wants us.
He finds a way to dim our light and to stop us from growing into the person that God wants us to be. We forget who we even are or what we even want.
The enemy loves to confuse us. He doesn’t want us to make sense of anything. Figuring things out feels so much harder when we listen to him. Life feels harder.
Trauma makes us feel as if we’ve lost our identity and it keeps us stuck in the same cycle that has carried on in the generations before us.
It keeps on repeating until someone in your family stands up and says ” not me, not anymore, this is not how it will be for my family.” That’s what i decided to do and i am so thankful i did.
If i could tell myself anything 10 years ago, i would say to myself that what God says about you is so much greater than the things you have been through and how those experiences have made you feel.
Because, if God promises us all the same things, especially hope and a future, then what makes you think that you are any different? Do you feel like God has excluded you from his plan? Because he hasn’t.
My friend, he had a plan for you before your own mother even knew about you!
Your pain will hold you back if you allow it, but God wants to direct you forward if you’ll allow him.
God didn’t make you a fighter for no reason. It truly doesn’t catch him by surprise each time you are hurting because he already knew what was coming. That’s why we need him so bad and why we need to rely so much on him.
We need his guidance.
Needing help or guidance doesn’t make us weak or not enough. It actually makes us brave for giving up the control we so badly want to have but was never ours to begin with.
God has a plan for your pain.
God doesn’t make garbage.
The hard truth is that you cannot heal what you don’t feel and i really feel that’s why so many of us still struggle.
We were created with feelings so that we could feel.
However, that doesn’t mean that we were made to hurt because I can assure you that that’s the very last thing that God wants for us.
Because we can expect the attacks of the enemy to come, its so important that we stay connected to the truth of what God says and who he says we are.
God says he will direct us.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”
God says all things will work themselves out.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.”
You are loved.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
You are valued.
“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
You are chosen.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
-1 Peter 2:9
Breaking apart from abuse or trauma means you need to find time for things that are important to you. Figure yourself out and love who you are when you’re alone. Find the courage to talk to God when you’re happy, sad, excited, and scared. He’s always waiting to hear from you.
Maybe it isn’t change that you need right now.
What if all God is asking of you right in this moment is to turn your worries over to him so that he can turn them into possibilities for you?
His love shouldn’t be a disruption to how you are living your life. Stop denying his love for you and believe that you were created for so much more than this.
His grace is waiting and wanting to cover you.
Deny the resistance you feel and trust that all things will work out for good.
When you can’t figure out what it is that you want it, run to the one who already has it figured out.
The hard part is that it’s hard and that the unknown sucks, but the good part is that you know that you are going to be so much better for it.
You cant change what you have gone through but you can find comfort in knowing that it has set you up for the things that you will do next.
It’s ok to not know what will happen next. Uncertainty builds resilience. Our main goal everyday should be to trust what is laid before us each day.
Remember that facts are real and that feelings are not.
The brave thing to do right now is to have hope, to trust his plan, and to keep living. Don’t give up because someone else has made you feel like garbage.
Remember that God doesn’t make garbage.
We cannot give what we choose to not receive, so give yourself so much grace. We not only need it, but God gives it away for free!!
